The Newark YMCA has a 260-bed emergency residential shelter that TLCC regularly serves. We might paint residential rooms or make a meal, or coordinate a gift basket filled with home care supplies for when residents move out of the shelter and into a home.
THE BIRTHDAY CLUB
Help provide a birthday party for homeless kids living in an emergency residential shelter. Once a month, our team brings all the trappings – decorations, cupcakes, and birthday presents and invites all the kids living in the shelter with a birthday that month.
WINNIE: The Valentine Foundation Mobile Care Unit
Hop onto the Winnebago and head out to supply soup and sandwiches to the hungry and homeless, then help them get connected to much needed services.
Located right here in West Orange, Christine’s Kitchen is a place where local hungry families can come for fellowship and food. Our team serves here one Saturday per month.
THANKSGIVING BASKET DRIVE
TLCC and +Life Local will be hosting its annual Thanksgiving Basket Drive beginning Sunday, October 22nd through Sunday, November 12th. Help spread God’s love in ever-widening circles as we provide full Thanksgiving dinners and additional food items to members of our local communities by donating items from the food list below.
Food donations will be accepted in the donation bin near the main entrance on Sundays, October 29th – November 12th.
You may also make a monetary donation by giving online (link to http://tlcc.org/give/) or in the offering envelope by choosing “Other” and designating your offering with “Thanksgiving.” You may also donate ShopRite gift cards by placing them in an offering envelope and dropping them in a dropbox on Sunday.
As always, TLCC and +Life Local thanks you for your generosity!
Email Olivia if you want to volunteer to assemble the Thanksgiving Baskets the weekend of Nov 17-19.
The TLCC Mentoring Initiative is passionate about working with at-risk youth. After successfully applying to the program, mentors work with their mentees on a weekly basis to provide a listening ear, help with homework or with another goal, and general support and encouragement.
Valentine House provides transitional housing for people who are coming out of rehab and transitioning back into every day life. We are always looking for people who can help with minor handiwork and administration.
